After graduating from Colorado College with a degree in Political Economy, Gene has spent his entire professional life in the non-profit/charitable and financial services communities. He has been a pioneer in the evolution within the financial industry’s change from the traditional stockbroker model to comprehensive financial planning and discretionary wealth management.
For the past 35 years, Gene has successfully navigated his clients through the different market environments. Starting in 1987 as a rookie broker at Dean Witter Pasadena, Gene saw the Dow drop 20% in one day, the euphoria of the .com boom, the Great Recession, and now, crypto mania. However, some things have not changed...professionalism, client-centric advice, and integrity.
In 2006 at Morgan Stanley, he was one of 200 Advisers to be selected by the firm as a “Custom Portfolio Manager.” That practice was expanded at UBS. In 2007, UBS recruited Gene to be one of their first discretionary “Personal Management Portfolio” managers. During their time at UBS, Gene and David were also one of UBS’s first signature family team partnerships.
In leisure, Gene enjoys sports, both as a fan and participant. His passion for the Denver Broncos and St. Louis Cardinals started as a young child and remains today. Golf is his current obsession. While he has a love affair with golf, unfortunately, the love affair isn’t mutual! Other interests are travel, skiing, hiking, and being a “foodie.” Gene has been married to his wife, Carolyn, for 45 years and resides in La Canada Flintridge. Together, they have been blessed with two married sons, three grandsons…and a future granddaughter!
